Paul.......value is what you think it is worth and selling price is what you negotiate. Records are unclear but it is estimated of 1,000,000 N-Tractors, about 8,000 were converted to 6-cyl "Funks". I would NOT pay more than $4000 for Funk in EXCELLENT condition, and just for the "braggin' rights" only. Iff'n I needed more horsepower, there are better $4000 tractors out there.
Iff'n you think you haffta "rebuild" the 6-cyl engine, (ittza 1949 pickup engine) tractor ain't worth $4000. And you don't buy Funk engine parts at yer local Ford/New Holland tractor dealer. You go to yer local NAPA store.
tip: do the dreaded compression test, 100psi minimum. Use a 12v jumper battery onto starter studd underneath the exhaust manifold. Post the readings, dry and wet and we'll help you interpret them. ......Dell
