I'm not a big fan of the new Troy Bilt products. I personally believe the quality is not as good as what the original products were. But what is??? I own both an older chipper shredder and 8HP rototiller that were made by Troy Bilt in New York and they both are outstanding products. That said, I might considering buying one today if the price was right. I believe they use a lot of Kohler engines in their mowers, and if is anything like the Kohler I have in my 1970's Cub Cadet, it has been trouble free and very dependable. I think I would seriously look at the belting arrangements for the mower and go what seemed to be the simplest. I'd get a cast iron front axle with regreasable fittings on tractor and mower. And if I could afford it, I'd go with a direct drive and stay away from the belt driven tractors. Other than that it all comes down to preference, cause I don't think the rest of the feature are too much different. Just my opinion.
