Tom N MS said: (quoted from post at 14:06:20 10/31/09) Some folks on the forum say "can"t go on but one way" that is true and it is not true. Many, Many front distrib. have been ruined because the assembler thought it was on correctly and they thightened the bolts and broke the ears off or ruined it in some other way...Tip #1..before you remove the distrib, remove the distrib. cap and notice which way the rotor button is pointing. Then position it that way before you start to reoinstall the distributor..Put the distrib against the motor and just start the two bolts..Now put slight pressure against the distrib. and turn(wiggle) the rotor button till the distrib drops in place. Now tighten the two bolts that hold the distrib. on. You will know it fell into place right if there is no space between the base of the distrib. and the face of the engine---absolutely no space, no crack at all...Follow these simple old country boy steps and you will never ruin a front mount distributor....It is just not correct nor enough info to just say it will only go on one way..Hope this helps
