Hey HVW, Had a 12v Craftsman with 2 batt packs for over 5 years. One pack stayed in the charger continually. About once every three months I rubber banded a 12v auto bulb to each pack to completly drain the batts, then recharged. Only when the batt pack quit taking charge did I move up to a 18v which one batt pack stays in the charger 24/7. Don't forget to allow the batt pack to cool some before using straight from the charger. Safety & blue skies, DJ
