If your 8n has the oem pto, it is 1 1/8 and 6 splines. All modern pto stuff is 1 3/8 6 splines. You have a few options for making these fit together. Best option is to get a new 1 3/8 pto shaft for about 99$ for your 8n. It's a 15 minute job, baring any damaged parts encountered, to swap shafts. Perhaps 20 minutes if you change the oil while you are at it.. otherwise you can park nose down in a ditch and not change the oil.. your call. You would then want a 1 3/8 to 1 3/8 over running coupler ( ORC ).. this keeps the spinning inertia of the mower from transmitting back thru your tranny run pto, and pushing the tractor forward when the clutch is pushed. Next best option is to simple get a 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 ORC and couple together that way. Next best is to get a pto stub extender. It slips over the OEM 1 1/8 pto and sizes it to a 1 3/8 shaft, then you can use the normal ORC, and later when you swap your shaft out for a new one.. you can still use the same ORC. Last option is not recomended. There is a small stamped sheetmetal 'bushing' that sizes the diameter of the 1 1/8 shaft up to 1 3/8.. unfortunately, with the power requirements of a shredder.. it strips out pretty easilly... I'd not use it... For any application where the stamped bushing could be used, the slightly more expensive stub adapter would be a better choice.. etc. Also.. as we have said.. you may want to consider just getting a 5' shredder.
