I live in NW Indiana. I just had a legal stake survey done. It cost $600, but the guy had done a 'real estate/bank' survey the year before, and knew everything about the property & had already done most of the work.

I requested a full stake survey when we bought the house, and the bank/real estate agent screwed up. Luckily the surveyor gave me a break.

Every other surveyor gave me an estimate for $1500-$2000! That was too much for me. As it turns out, the neighbors driveway is 4 feet into my yard, I'm not going to make them move it, but there is a stake there to show where my property corner is now.
