I don't think my throttle rod has any bend to it, can't see a reason why it would. The TO35 is definitely straight, I have it all apart right now to re-do all the ball joint connectors etc. The previous owner had it held together with tie wraps. It fell apart when I was testing it. Always wondered why it felt funny when throttling up/down.
I'm glad you have a good helper for out in the shop, I have a couple of barn cats who sometimes come into the shop when it's really cold out, and two Saint Bernards who like to "help".
