Hi Bill, I had my dist out and also removed the housing from the rear of the timing cover. I did have the whole motor apart. On these pictures you can see the dist housing, the three bolts that hold the small cover on the end, I took that cover off. Removed a bolt from the end of the shaft, then the three bolts that hold the housing on the timing cover. The housing will slide off the back, and the shaft should stay there, if the timing cover is off on the front, you could then pull the gear and shaft out fron the front as a set. The big nut comes off, then you can take the gear off of the shaft. Also there is a photo with the timing cover just pulled off and still has the centrifigul governor cup and balls in it. Sorry I dont have any photos of it when the gear was actually out. But you shouldnt need a puller, it should come out easily. Do you really need to take all that apart? Good luck, TB
