Hello, In a word 'no'. In a perfect system all oil should be returned to the pump and then into the casing. Nothing is perfect least of all when it starts wearing. Have you tried to isolate the source by using a small flashlight and a mirror to see as far as you can towards the top? The most likely place for the leak is the lift piston and housing in the hydraulic cover. A very small leak would be acceptable but if it reduces the lifting capacity or the arms drop immediately that you switch the engine off then the leak is significant and needs to be investigated. Causes of the leak can be worn/scored piston and bore, cracked cylinder or blown O ring.
