Mike I drain the fluid and just pour some diesel or kerosene into the cavity to get the grunge out of the bottom of the cavity. What type of fluid you use is up to you, I used a universal fluid that meets the JD spec., there is always fluid left in the power steering system and else where that mixes with the new fluid. To make reinstalling the cover on the valve easier, substitute all thread about 3 " long, double nut the end to seat it tight in the hole. It's a really tight space to work in trying to get bolts started with the spring pushing back.. Jo
