I have a 329 combine engine out of a 4400 combine that I use to power an irrigation pump.
Recently the oil pressure has dropped off significantly... down to about 20 lbs when hot, at which point the Murphy switch shuts it off. We did replace the spring in the oil pressure control valve. This increased pressure when cold from about 40 lbs to 50-55 lbs, but pressure drops off rather quickly (10 min) to about 20 lbs.
Are my bearings shot? Or is there something wrong with th oil pump? Engine has about 3500 hours on it, and I'm not sure of its upkeep prior to 2005. It does not knock, and runs very smoothly.
