Splitting firewood

In the spring, I am going to have to split some 19" diameter poplar which will be used for firewood. Although it will seem like a lot to do by hand with a maul, there is not enough to justify spending many hundreds of dollars to save the effort (so says my wife, who will watch). What I am wondering, is if there are 3-point devices that will split wood ? If so, how do they work ? Are the hydralics (in the down direction) of a Ford 2N strong enough that if a sharp blade was attached, it could be used that way to split the wood ? Perhaps I could rig up something myself ?
