John, I'm not sure as to why you believe that you need a true service manual for your tractor. Much of the routine service is covered in the Operator's Manual and these can be had for around ten bucks from a dealer.
Service manuals are essentially made up from a stack of individual manuals that cover specific parts. For instance, a service manual for a 446 would have a booklet that deals only with the travel/lift valve, another that deals with the steering, another that deals with the electrical system, another that deals with the trans-axle and so forth.
Rarely will an owner find the need for these books but if that happens, there are two groups out there that deal specifically with these tractors. You already belong to the Yahoo Case group. The FILES section there is a wealth of information. The other group is My Tractor Forum. I have put about a dozen service bulletins into the MTF library so far and another member supplied about 8 more.
Any question about your tractor that cannot be found in those bulletins can be answered by members on these forums. In other words, I don't see the merit in spending the $80.00 for something that you will rarely make use of, especially when you can obtain the information you seek at no cost via these forums.
Overall, the Case and Ingersoll tractors are quite simple in design and easy to work on. Aside from that, very little goes wrong with them. The asking price for the service manual sounds about right but I'd have to check with my dealer buddy to verify.
