Thanks to all who responded to my 8/6/09 post about a 425 that ran good for the first 10 to 15 min. while mowing and then start missing. The missing was the right cylinder loosing fire intermittingly at first and then dead. A classic coil problem, right? So I replaced the coil to the tune of $68.00 and thought my problem was fixed! Wrong. Same thing with the new coil so I replaced the TDC module ($20.00) which is the 4th one for this tractor and held my breath. Well it went a little longer before acting up but still was not right. So with the side panels off I started moving wires while it was running and found out I could make the missing problem come and go by moving the wire harness (where the TDC module plugs in the the main harness's). If I held the harness up it was fine and if I pushed down it would miss by affecting the new right coil. So I isolated the coil wires and put my ohm meter on them and moved them as much as I could and could not find anything wrong with them. Those wires for the right hand coil come from the TDC module. Prior to the TDC module they come from the engine. My solution was to band tie the harness's in a way that they were held upward and the tractor mowed fine for a hour or more. I know I didn't fix the problem and the original coil is probably good but she is now running like she should so in a way I fixed it. Sorry for the long post But I wanted to bring you up to date.
