Kinda depends on the design of the clutch. I am not familiar with new chain saws 'cause it as been about fifteen years since I bought a new chain saw. But yes, years ago some did have a tool available to aid in removing the clutch. Concerning the weed cutters, I have seen quite a few that had a screw that held the clutch drum on the shaft. It was accessed by removing the drive shaft and then removing the screw. The clutch shoe asmbly screws onto the shaft on many models. As I said, kinda depends on how the clutch is designed and made.
