Check to make sure the PTO shaft is not turning with the PTO lever in the off position. If it is then the PTO break band is broken.
Make sure the dual power shifts without hesitation.
Get a box of ear plugs if you do buy it
After market PTO shafts can be had for a lot less than $500.
Check engine blow by if its hard to start. Before you start it crack open the oil pan drain plug and check for antifreeze. If there is antifreeze most likely the block is perforated in a cylinder wall.
Pull out the 1/8" pipe plug on the intake manifold. It is near the back on the bottom of the manifold. If there is oil on it it is a good indication the turbo is about to puke.
