According to John Smith's site, the serial number on the early NAA's was on the left side of the engine near the front, just below the head and above the generator, but once they moved the serial number to the transmission they no longer put them on the engine. Engines and transmissions have been swapped over the years so some might have an early engine and a late transmission and therefore have 2 different serial numbers, and some might have a later engine and an earlier transmission and therefore have no serial numbers.
There may have been more characters at the beginning that are worn off or no longer readable, and NAA114159 would be a valid 1954 serial number.
It also might be a transmission from a later hundred series that was transplanted. Is there another number above the one you posted?
