I am working on a 971 for a friend.
I have switched it over to a 12 volt system with a one wire type alternator.
I set it up with the diagram in the link.
Last night I tried it and it seemed to work fine. Well today I got the gas tank and radiator all set and tried to start it and get it running. I turned the key on and hit the starter button and the starter motor would not stop turning even after I stopped pushing the button, I turned the key off and it still kept turning, so I had to quickly disconnect the battery. So what am I doing wrong? (Also I eliminated the amp light and used an amp meter instead.) Thanks in advance.
