I have a ford 5000 in the shop now for a neighbor to fix a leaky power steering seal at the top of the steering column. When they brought the tractor over, they told me that the starter hasn't been working correctly and they have been tow starting the tractor. I have been tinkering with it some, and the solenoid will click when you hit the key, but it generally will not spin the starter over.once in a while, it will turn the tractor over and it starts right up. I have charged the battery and it has the same symptoms. The tractor accidentally rolled into the owners pond about 3 weeks ago now. all of the fluids were changed right away, and it runs fine, but I was wondering what you guys thought. I let someone borrow my IT manual, so I dont have it or I would look up the resistances to check on the solenoid and the starter.
