I have a Ford 4400 that is still fairly new to me. I don't have any manuals.
I've read on this board about the pto spinning when disengaged. As I understand it, this is just some residual hydro power causing it...that there is no real power driving the pto when the handle is in.
However, in my case, the pto seems to be under power whether the handle is pushed in or pulled out. I used a board against the spinning shaft to see if I could stop the pto by applying friction but could not.
What kind of problem am I looking at? Is this just a control cable problem or does it go deeper? I probably could have sold the tractor today except for that problem. I still might be able to make the deal if I can resolve the problem.
