OK guys, apparently what I have here is an original motorola alternator with internal regulator. Someone, before I got the tractor, has rigged it with an external regulator... I don"t know why. As it sits, there is one #10 wire coming from largest stud on alt & going to battery side of solenoid. That is why I assumed I had a one wire alternator. The alt seems to be charging fine, 14.21 volts with tractor running. I now am trying to wire the idiot light. I have 12 volts (from ign) to one side of lamp and don"t know what do do with ground side of lamp. I connected ground side to each stud on alt, one at a time. Two of the studs were pure ground, light stayed on all the time-one was where # 10 wire is connected(bat?) and got nothing-the last one I got a weak light that stayed on all the time. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
