so a normal tachometer(RPM Gauge)won't work with an alt even if I install a tack drive? or will this specific alt simply not house a tack drive?
I don't intend to use the original gauges, by the way, just the original gauge panel(none of the original gauges work. I'm going to set my new (lighted) needle gauges behind the glass in the old gauge panel, and try to find a metal sheet material similar to what was originally in it to use as a backing.
by the way, were the original gauges not electric, or do you mean I'll need a digital gauge? Can I get a digital needle gauge?{digital tack drive signal reader but analogue needle display} Or can I only get tack drive readers with digital display, like a digital watch, as in this: [01:03 AM]
If not this alt, what would you suggest? Preferably something cheap ($100&less) that either comes with a tack drive or is able to house one if I get an installation kit.
Also, I'm not quite sure what kind of fuel gauge/sender kit to get. I want one that'll fit the tank well (I know for a fact the original sender is broken), but I think gauge in the replacement kit from ford might be too big for my purposes. I'm going to need my gas gauge to be 1" in diameter or less, as I'm going to try to fit more in the panel than what it originally came with. (5 instead of 3, other than the fuel gauge, I'll be putting in a battery gauge 1" or less, and oil pressure & engine temp gauges 3/4" each, and hopefully a tachometer in the center 2-3" )
Can I even get(reliable)gauges that small, or is that just wishful thinking? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks S.B.Hahn
