I have a 1954 40S. I had the starter rebuilt at a shop because the protruding piece that contacts the starter switch was badly burned off and worn. This was about 2 years ago. I installed a new aftermarket starter switch. Always noticed it seemed I had to pull the starter lever farther. Do you suppose there is a difference in the aftermarket starter switch. Unless the battery is fully charged, I can't get it to start due to bad contact between the starter switch and the protruding piece on the starter I referred to. The protruding part is part of the field so would it be different height?
