I"ve had a 610 for 30 years, the carb can be very finicky. I had trouble with mine a year ago. I would get it started and it would mis-fire blow black smoke and eventually die. I found for a short term fix to gently tap on the carb right above the gas input before I started it and it would run ok until I shut it off. since then I have had the carb professionally rebuilt and it"s back to running fine.
