Before pulling the injection pump barrel, I read the book and it said to put the rack in mid position. I did that and then pulled the barrel. I read posts here before that when putting them back in that if your not carefull, you can be one tooth off. Hopefully I'm not. Although I think it is smoking more now than before. This is a scroll type pump, not the sleeve metering type. After doing this, I'm begining to think it is in the compression end not the fuel end like you said. Maybe now alot more fuel unburned than before i played with the injection pump. I want to call a service guy, but the father-in-law is on limited funds and wants it fixed for as little as possible. hard to do when you are working on a Cat. Every part practicly has to come from the dealer. He told me this dozer did this before, but only for a short time. After it warmed up it ran smooth.
