Seems to be back to normal. I'll only feed him twice a day and see how he does.

Thanks to all who posted.

With calves you are always better erring on the side of caution. I'd hold the bottle lower so he's just that much less likely to aspirate some feed. Cattle have relatively small lungs for their body size, very small in fact. Any pneumonia damages the already small lungs, sets them back. Better to avoid this if possible.

Looks good.

Tails moving. And is he hitting the bottle? Just a fun time feeding them. He'll be your Buddie fallow you every where and get in the road, LOL

I would say that is a good angle to hold the bottle, he is short, I have one cow that is taller if she has a small calf it looks about like that. Normal calf for her is 120+ range.

Your calf looks good. You are holding the bottle too high when you feed him. They tend to get fluid down into their lungs when you hold it that high. Think about the normal height of their momma's teat when you feed him.

Randall You must have short cows. Looks about right to me for height. About even with his knee.

But that is a very short calf.
Look at the differance in his picture and this one.

Glad too here he's eating again. I was gonna feel bad if you came back in a few days and said he died. A person just never knows with them little guys.

Looks healthy enough.

Better off a little hungry than over fed at that age.
