Went out yesterday to chisel plow the hay ground that will be planted to winter wheat. The plow is an old Graham Hoeme. The guy I worked for as a kid would have called it a field cultivator (not quite aggresive enough for a true chisel plow) but around here they call it a plow. Went in about 3 inches and plugged up every few yards with all the stubble/weeds. So.... Should I disc the ground a few times to deal with the trash and then go back and chisel. Or should I hire a neighbor to mold board it for me? (don't own a true plow and can't afford one this fall). Moisture would help but I'm not sure I can wait till the end of Sept/early Oct. I only get to farm weekends and evenings and not all of those. Not sure I could get the crop in fast enough if I wait too long into the fall. We often get snow the first week of Oct around here and then it's too wet to do much for a while. |

| Plowing with a moldboard would dry it out some unless your in an area that has decent moisture this year. Where are you from that you typically get snow that early? |
