I have a one year old stand of decent alfalfa that has a few thin spots that i would like to fill in. What can I overseed,(and when)? South Michigan, sand/clay, recent lime. Hay is used for beef cattle. Thanks for your help. |

| Orchard grass works well with alfalfa. It grows and regrows at about the same rate. Also grows at same temps as alfalfa. |

| Drill in any of the more palatable grasses this fall along with red clover. Do it immediately. |

| yes,you can overseed.in michigan you would want to do it early spring.as soon as you could get into field. if you dont mind a mixed stand you could even frost seed clover in.doesnt work so well with alfalfa most places though. |
