I did about 3 acres of corn this year and had a bad problem with some kind of grass. My question - is there anything I can buy and use on corn in New York state without being licenced.I know one option is to find a bag of round up ready corn but its hard to find people who want to deal with someone doing the small acreage that I do. Another option may be to just not plant the field next year and spray round up a couple of times.

For food plots that are not rr seeded, try planting later in the spring. Ga ahead and disc the plot well in mid April. Then wait until early June to burn down the weeds and grass that have appeared Then plant you corn.
BTW if you planted corn there last year you may want to put beans in there this spring.

you could band herb. with the planter for foxtails but you need to cultivate, Impact is good on foxtails post emerge. Conventional corn doesn't send more of your money to Monsanto and I am all for that!

If you can't find somebody to sell you 1 bag of RR seed corn, you're not looking. Folks run out of seed and need "one more bag to finish up" all the time. It's not like seed dealers have to bag it off from bulk. They'll all have it bagged and laying there on a pallet. Take you about two minutes to write the check and have them throw it in your trunk.

Do as I do. Go to the seed dealers and see if they have any left over test plot seed. If you are not pickey, yoy should be able to get some for free. I got enough to do 6 acres this year, and it was triple stack. I just grow it for fuel for a corn stove, so I am not pickey on all the little things, and all it costs me is a dozen or so donuts. They had plenty of test plot corn left after I was done. All they do is send back the unused seed. Even got a couple 50 lb bags of soybean seed.
