Not completely clear on your plans, but playhouse needs to be high enough for an adult to stand up in it. Floor supports need to be standard 16 inches on center apart. 1/2 inch plywood is not really thick enough. 5/8 would do, 3/4 best. 2 x 4 floor joists on edge will be ok for that width. To support floor joists, run a 4 x 4 between the 4 x 4 posts, attached by galvanized lag bolts or nails put in at an angle, reason for galvanized bolts is that the treated lumber will rust uncoated nails, in fact use ganvanized nails every where you nail into treated lumber. You can drop the floor joists down on the 4 x 4 enough to make the 4 x 4 level with the flooring. Reason for putting 4 x 4s between posts is to have a flat surface to fasten outside siding to at the bottom. 2 x 4s edgewise up the wall to fasten siding to higher. I'm not clear if you intended siding, if not ignore this paragraph. The playhouse I built was 8 x 8 with a 4 foot porch. Hope this helps. KEH [Reply]   [Send Email]
