Classic Gas Tanks - Anyone Used Their Services?

I've had this same thread on the Farmall/IHC and Restoration Forums on this site with no actural responses so will try here.
My Farmall 240 fuel tank is a mess with all the stuff inside the tank. I'm going to be removing it and want it cleaned throughly and correctly and will check with the local radiator shop before sending it elsewhere. It appears someone put in one of those liner kits without the proper preparation being done and it is flaking off everywhere. The tank where you can see where it has already shed is nice and bright and don't know why it was put in there to start with. Would appreciate some comments from anyone who has used these folks before as they advertise in every issue of the Red Power Magazine and probably other model specific publications. Thanks for any and all shared comments and suggestions, Hal.

Why don't you go get a gallon of Acetone put it in the tank, let it soak, you may need to rotate the tank some, and remove the liner yourself and see what the tank looks like.

Hal I would do a simple test. Take a couple of the flakes of the liner and then see what you can find that will dissolve it. Be it acetone or maratic (sp( acid or even one of the good carb cleaners. Then use which ever one you find and pour in a gal or so of it and give it a go. You also might try pressure washing it or is you do not have one take the tank to a car wash and spray it out real good

Solvents such as methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acetone, methylene chloride and propylene oxide (POP) will completely dissolve the polymer. Other industrial solvents may affect the coating but, not completely dissolve it.
