If over filled, in particular above the valve
stem. The tire looses it's flexibility, rides harder
and has less traction.
R2 rice tread ?

Back in the 60's when I was taught to fill NEW rear tractor tires while working for a JD dealership one can only over fill if fluid was above valve stem in the 12 o'clock position as shown in picture. If not very close to even with valve stem my boss considered the tires "under filled"

Very cool ! Been wondering how to put fluid back in the tires on a few tractors. Now I know and you say it worked good.So how long did it take to fill the tire?Great pictures very good information. Thanks for sharing BlaineF(WA)

I used windshield washer fluid. Bought it in bulk from the local auto parts store. I did have the valve stem in the 12 o'clock position. The chart said they would hold 79 gallons but they only held 68 each. I did over fill them and then shut the pump off and opened up the little ball valve with the short hose on it and it ran back out until it was the same level as the stem. The pump I used is a 2.1 gallon a minute pump. Probably one of the easiest things I have came up with and worked the way I wanted it to in a while!

As a novice I'm wondering how the displacement of the air happens while the fluid is filling the tire? I know nothing of filling tires with fluid.
