I would like to welcome my son Phillip(DeltaRedJr) to the board(imagine my surprise upon reading his earlier post!).He probably wont post much because he is in the US Navy-Nuclear program/officer program,(not really a tractor guy-he does own a '46 Oliver 60)I just want to let everyone know proud his mother and I are of him!Iam also very honored that he chose the handle"DeltaRedJr".Hopefully he will post some, and we can enjoy 'tractor talk' together.

Just tell him to just jump in anytime,--- No not in the water LOL . I mean Get involved with the great bunch of members here. And Thanks for what he is doing for our Country too !

Ya brought him up well he does have an interest in tractors also.

Ah but what Nuclear program?? A squid or a top side guy?? But one thing I am sorry to here he is going for the officer program since those guys do not have a clue as to what real work is. I am not disrespecting him in any way but I was an enlisted man and sorry the officers 98% of the time did not have a clue as to what was/is real

He is/was enlisted.the base commander encouraged him to apply to
" Seaman to Admiral"He is going onto a carrier after school, then hopes to go into teaching

Not a program I know off but then I have been out since July of 1980. Back when I was in there was a program to go to OCP Officer candidate program or some such thing but then that was years ago. Oh so he is going to a city at sea. Bet he will at some point end up in Idaho where one of the biggest Nuc schools are

DeltaRed your son and your family have my thanks for his service. There are many young men and women that still know what this great country is about. I wish him well in his career in the Navy.

Welcome aboard Delta Jr. and thanks for you service.
My brother in law put 20 some years I think 24 in the Navy.
Retired from Naval Reactors. He loved the Naval Reactor duty and did not want to retire. His last sea duty was on the sub, USS Henry Clay.

He retired as a Chief Warrant officer (W4), but never went to any OCS.

I think there are great possibilities for you in the nuclear program.

Good Luck

Firstly, thank you for all the kind words, it really means a lot in this current day and age. To clarify what my dad said there, I was a nuclear trained E5 for about 2 1/2 years before I got selected for a commissioning program. Right now, I am in school to get my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, after which I will go to Nuclear Power School in Charleston SC. After that, I hope to go to a carrier, but possibly could be sent to a sub depending on the needs of the Navy. So far it has been a good experience for me, and I hope to live up to all your expectations.

Thanks again,
Phillip
