I just can't keep the belt on my L-59 woods mower from twisting.
All pullyes and spindles are free.
I start out mowing with I think is the correct allignment. When finished the belt is all twisted??
Help these belts cost me at least $100. thanks....jimmy

Jimmy,
I also have a L59 Woods belly mower on my C A/C tractor. I found out from someone on 1 of these forums years ago you can go to the Woods website and get a parts drawing and how the belt should look after installation. According to the manual pics I printed off the internet from Woods, the belt should have a twist in it on the lower pulley of the mower. Try to get some info from Woods mower website. I too struggled with this same problem until I printed the manual for my own use. It is about 20-30 pages long. Very helpful information. Hope this helps.

I run an Allis C with a L306 woods deck. The only time it wants to twist is when the belt gets old and loose. After purchasing one Woods belt at an obscene price I drilled a new hole and relocated the upper idler. I now run a Gates B240 belt and they are MUCH MORE COST EFFECTIVE.

kow farmer is correct on belt routing info also check spindle pulley position measurements per manual. changed jobs and had to use an old L 59 A woods it was a belt thrower until i found that some one in the past had put the pulleys on flush with the shaft ends not off set as per the manual instead of using acouple of belts a year have run the past four years on the same belt without it coming off once

As Kow Farmer says- go to Woods website and get a picture- you've undoubtedly heard how many words a picture is worth?
It can be a job to find the correct manual for your application, but the search is worth it. Then just print off the pages you want.

The two idlers below the driver does one have a grouve and the other should be smooth, You can go to any belt store and get a b-235 or what ever length you need. Those belts will last for many yrs if they are lined up and kept tight. So let us know do you have one grouved and one smooth pulley.

Yes one grove and one smooth. I have a diagram that comes on the woods box, being the third time I follow it exact.
btw are there better places to geta belt, woods is very $$$ jimmy

What am I not seeing? I don't see where he mentions application? They are all different. My AC B/C use two grooved (V) idler pulleys. No flat pulleys. Some use three idler pulleys.

The bracket I have here for a Farmall A, Super A, etc. has two grooved pulleys. I'm still apparently missing something- because going from one pulley type to another would accompany a different belt twist.
