Wider front tyres

I want to fit wider front tyres to my Massey 97/MM 705 FWA but dont want to mess up the transmission ratio too much even if the tractor wont be worked and only used for parade.Does anyone know what the maximum size I can fit? I am happy to cut and add a spacer to the front rims. Any ideas on what width of spacer I would need? I guess its just then a case of getting out the welder. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Bill

The answer is aspect ratio. A short tire from rim to ground will have a ratio of less than 50. A wider tire with the smaller aspect will have the same circumference, thus no issue with ratios. Measuring circumference, or standing height and keeping it about the same will be fine. Jim

Bill; Do you know MFpoor? Does MF stand for Massey Ferguson? Hope he didn't scare you off.
I have some old GoodYear farm tire books in the shop with all kinds of interesting data, but that's all it is any more is interesting.
If you dig around on the internet you find the Titan website. They have what's left of GoodYear ag tires. They show all kinds of data also. What you want to compare is "static loaded radius". I suppose you might find other manufacturers of tires(oops, tyres, I keep screwing up!) also.

Take a look on your favorite tire manufacturer's website. They should have their tire data books there with all of the sizing information. The bottom line is that you want to maintain the static loaded radius or the rolling circumference... which ever one they list in their specific data.
Michelin in particular makes an exotic tire for the specific purpose you want... a wider tire by one size that will fit your existing wheels and maintain the SLR.... BUT they don't really bother much with the old sizes from that vintage and they are hellish expensive. XM108 I think is the series/model of the tire.
In all honesty a lot of these older tire sizes are hard to get today. If you can get anything you should be glad, never mind changing to something else.

This is not my strong point... I guess I don't have any strong points... but, I re-read, you have 'front wheel assist'? 4 wheel drive? yes, gear ratios especially if the front can't coast in neutral, now, if you were getting stuck in mud and muck and needed floaters or something, and in field gears, you do what you have to do, but to drive at road speed to parades.... if you were to play with tire...tyre? diameters, I would disarm the whole front shaft... WW2 Jeep people do this if it is just for parades or modified for highway use. As far as 'low profile' but wide track, yeah, you might have to dish the centers/ centres? well outboard... and it might come out looking silly, lose the whole affect you are trying for. Keep your money in your pocket till you see something you might like in person.

Thanks for all the replies , much appreciated. Yes gear ratio between front and rear is important and something I need to keep in mind.
Regarding spelling, there are differences between how we do words in Scotland and you guys in the US but mostly not that different examples being centers and tyres, there ar others like plow and plough etc.
