Hydraulic failure

I have a 1953 NAA jubilee with a piston hydraulic pump. I was driving back to the shop with a disc on the tractor. The hydraulics failed and the disc came down and wouldn"t come back up. The arms will come up with no load on them. I pulled the dip stick plate and I see oil coming down the side of the casing and out the cover plate opening. But I don"t see any leak in the piston mechanism. Has any body got any ideas what has failed?

Relief valve? Bouncing around driving across a field with a heavy implement raised on the 3 pt.puts a lot of non-steady load on the hydraulics and can blow the relief valve. That protets the lift piston seals. Maybe you damaged your relief valve or the next weakest link in the hydraulic supply to the lift cylinder.

if the leak is at the top I'd almost thing safety valve or an oring, vs the relief (NAA638E) that sets lower, IIRC.

The NAA-502 gasket blew. There are no orings used just the paper gasket. Pull lift cover and replace gasket. Real easy job.

I already checked the 502 gasket and it is good. There is a gasket between the lift cover and the piston assembly. Is there any hydraulic pressure on that gasket. Could it have blown out?

I pulled the piston assembly and part of the gasket was blown out. That is why I had hydraulic fluid running down the inside of the case. It was squirting over to the side of the case.
I replaced the gasket and it is working great now.
Thanks everybody for your help.
