Going to put a set of used 18.4 X 38 Firestone radials on my 856 are all the rear tractor tubes the same or is there a special tube for a radial tire ? What about the cheap made in China tubes will they hold up or are they just cheap junk ?

I can not say 100% sure on a tractor tire but I know on car/truck tires the tubes are different between the radial and the bias tires. Has to do with the way the bias tire flexes compared to the radial tires and the tube from the radial type will work in both but not the other way areound

There are radial tubes made for radial tractor tires. If you use a bias tube in a radial tire, it will shred rapidly because of the increased flexing of the tire.

you sure you don"t want to run tubeless? we have a set of 18.4R38 that we ran for a few years with tubes. the tubes would keep getting pinholes. went tubeless and solved that problem. same deal with 13.6R38 on another tractor. ran tubes for probably 10 years. at first OK, after several years the pinholes in the sidewalls started. at one point i was breaking down one side or the other 1-2X per year to patch the sidewall. took out the tubes and no more problem.

Radial tubes are thicker and more expensive. Just removed a pair of them and the calcium to go tubeless. Surprised me, one was made in Canada, one made in the USA.

They make a Heavy Duty radial tube and a standard radial tube. Go with the heavy duty tubes. If you can, stay away from the cheap JUNK.
I always put a lot of tire talc inside the tire and took my shop rag and rubbed it all over the inside of the tire.

IF you've got good tires and tubeless wheels... I would strongly recomend mounting them tubeless. Radials are great... but they're hard to keep tubes in, even with the big dollar, natural rubber, radial tubes. I find them quite sensitive to pressure... in that if they are run soft under load for even short periods of time... the tube will get pinched or the stem torn off. They can't take a lot of flexing.
