Ford tractor engine or block

I have a 1943 ford I am not sure if it is a 8 or9N. I need a rebuild engine or a block. Can anyone help me. I am in Frederick Maryland.

Of in fact it is a 1943 then it is neither a 9N or 8N but a 2N. That said go down to the 9N/2N/8N forum and there are a lot more guys there that might be able to help you. Of course you could always buy a rebuilt engine from some place like nnalert

9N is a three speed, 2N and 8N are four speed. 8N was built 1948-1952.

I put a complete reman engine in an 8n from nnalert. No complaints here.

The 9N and 2N are 3 speeds. The 8n is 4 speed.

(n and 2N both 3 speed forward. 9N made from 1939 to 1942 that is where the 9N came from the first year made. Then in 1942 the 2N came out and went to 1947 and in 1948 the 8N and the 4 speed was put in. Each tractor got there name from the first year they where sold as
