Need a rebuilt small block Chev. marine engine. Anyone know where I might find one. Someone told me the cam is different in a marine engine.Need one, for a boat, to give tractor riders a ride after a long day on a tractor. Thanks for any help, Harold

Last one i did I used a motor out of a truck--283 ci chevy. Only thing I changed was the water pump and the exhaust manifold. Course being young and foolish put a 4 barrel and manifold from a vette on it--figured it made about 270+ horse. Sure did make that 20 footer go; flat out with the tach stalled at 5K measured mile said 50+. Prop was 21 inches of pitch and 16 inches diameter.
Thinking back I should have changed the distributor for a mechanical advance cause there isn't much vacumn when she's pulling that hard.
The boat was a Lugar 20 foot with a 15 Deg deep vee. And heavy, I figured about 2500 lb.

Some marine engines on a dual drive may have a reverse rotation camshaft. Each engine turns opposite directions for offsetting engine
Torque.

The engine in our boat is a Waukesha. It is basically a ford 302. I'm not sure that they don't use others as well. I would have to check but,i think that it does turn backwards.
