The link below has many interesting, and honestly quite scary pictures of the Texas wildfires that are currently occurring.
The page will be slow with dial up users (like me).

The cattle folks on this forum will especially appreciate this picture.

Do you suppose the home owner was on the phone with the insurance company about the time this picture was taken?

Those are the nicest sickening pics I've seen in a long time. I saw the one with the oberservatory before, but I thought it was a water tank at Ruidoso NM a couple weeks ago. So they are all over, from the Red River to Rio Grande? It must stink all over. The pics are so sharp and clear, almost 'artistic'? All sorts of aircraft too, skyhook, C-130, and a Martin Maurader? How ever ya spell it. So is part of the problem do to dry wells? No local supply for tankers? Or hosing down your own place. If this crap starts near you, and you have a set of disc harrows, I would do every inch of your place, and as many of the neighbors' aswell, keep the flames the @#$% away from yours! Stay safe down there.

I watched some of the coverage on FOX this morning. Man how devastating this has been for the ranchers. Like one said though it will come back better than it has been in many years with some rain on it. He had a positive outlook through it all.

i saw that in real life more n once on the west end of Galveston Island...salt marsh grass burnt like jet fuel.
i wish them folks all the luck in the world...looks like they gonna need it.

Guys, First off Let me say the local fire companies in the small local towns are Second to Nobody. They will run Balls to the the Wall for everyone. When the are Toned Out! These guys are our local Farmers/Ranchers/Ins. Agents/local business men and Women too. The problem is Fire danger is Sooo High at home they do not dare send more than one truck to help out at the other fires because if a fire breaks out at home they will be short handed on the home front. There are local trucks and tankers that help out too, In most cases these guys can get water to the fires but some areas are so ruff and remote that the firefighters and their trucks can be victims like the brush and structures too. The cedar breaks are one tough place to be when a fire get a head of steam built and has a tail wind pushing it, it can run at amazing speed, hard to get a place to make a stand to stop it, it can jump large fire breaks and start again. The short grass country is a easier place to make a stand or stop a fire than in the heavy cedar and brush areas.
Also most of the guys fighting this fire are running on sheer willpower wayyyy past exhaustion!!
Most guys are doing just as you said above getting their tractors and disks ready and praying you do not need to use them!
Please keep us in your prayers, Texas as a whole need large amounts of rain right not to get this thing turned around.
Thanks to all who have sent Volunteers to help out here.
Thanks Y'all
Later,
John A.

I live in south east Texas. If we have a fire over here. We will be facing the same thing. I think over half the counties in Texas are under burn bans. The main problem out west is there is nothing to slow the fires down.Open land and full of fuel.
