Well, you hit the first two things I thought of- plugs and distributor cap. Sorry, now I'm out of ideas.

I had a '59 Ford with 332 engine (junior version of the 352)- always had trouble starting it in cold, damp weather. Talked to a mechanic, and he said to always carry a spare set of new plugs, and a plug wrench, in the trunk. If it won't start, put in new plugs. For some reason, plugs would only last about 5,000 miles in that rig, then the next cold damp day, it wouldn't start. Nobody had ever figured out why.

I got so I could change a set in about 5 minutes. After changing them out, put the empty box on the passenger seat, as a reminder to get another set next time I went to town.

Had the same problem with wifes 97 Tahoe, whenever it rained,it would not start.New,GM distributor cap and rotor solved it.

I had the same problem with my 1998 gmc, a guy at work told me how to fix it. Put a distributor in it. Factory gm distributors base plate are plastic and prone to getting cracks in them. I bought one off of ebay with an aluminum base plate for less than 75.00 with the cap and button. I hope this helps you.

Without seeing it ,kinda hard to toss out ideas...But i have replaced a TON of ignition coils on these . Cold , damp, rainy ,,anything that affects secondary ignition ,,,,coil is good call . keep us posted

swap coils or coil packs .. have you ever tried ether as a starting aid ? , if it will fire on ether ,that is a good indicater that the spark is weak ?, b ased on your few words, doubtful if fuel delivry and carb is at fault,,but we are not under the hoodwith you ,, nuthin worse than to chase around a problem that keeps showing its ugly face,, let us know what you learn... also make sure all plug wires are fully socketed in the cap . case in point ... My Ford F600 had me do a complete tuneup , still would occassionaly misfire , only to make me discover that the nippled plug that fastens to the coil was VERY Loose , one mild squeze with a pliers and reinstalled titely , And That Grain Truck Runs like a real Champ..

HI all Thanks for all the ideas, just to up date changed out known good crank sensor, put new plug wires on couple months ago and all are complet pluged in,also changed out known good coil still no go. Tomorow going to get new dist. cap, rotor pick up sensor, will post results later Ralph THANKS

did you put damp/wet weather air in the tires??? If you had them mounted in the dry summer you may have to change it so things equal out...............

If that don't work, I'd go for the cap and rotor. If it's real nasty where you are, maybe a little bead of silicon on the cap base.

Good Luck,

Dave

Did you replace the rotor when you put the new distributor cap on? They should ALWAYS be replaced as a set. I've seen many rotors fail by "leaking" through to the shaft. HTH
Good Luck and God Bless
