Removing a Coiled Spring Pin

I am working on a stalk chopper and need to remove some coiled spring tension pins from a round shaft. They are being very stubborn to remove. What is best to use a regular punch or a roll pin punch? Should I heat them up? Any tips of suggestions?

If you can blow through them into clean no fuel location, you can scarfe them out with a cutting torch. Or just heat them to red and then drive them out. Jim
