Case 1130 Skid-Steer

My friend is looking for a Skid-Steer and found a Case 1130. It is gas. Bucket is pretty bent up. Hydraulic Cylinder seals have been replaced. Engine in covered in oil, the owner says it does not use oil. The owner said the oil came from the cylinders when they leaked. As I recall it has about 2500 hours.

What are the pros and cons of this model Skid-Steer? When looking at this or any Skid-Steer what are key items to look for and "watch outs"? Your comments would be appreciated. Paul

Could it be a 1530, with the 30 hp Wisconsin, or the 1730, with water-cooled engine? Either way, it is old...maybe 70s. Belt drive on the 1530 with a very spendy gearbox. Later hydro models are much more dependable.

Sorry about the confusion. I'm thinking it has to be an 1830. I will ask my friend to check.

What are your comments about the 1830?

Thanks to those who responded.

I know you are probably trying to get by cheap, but I'd think twice about buying that one. If it is in fact an 1830, they were made way back in the 1970's and they had a Renault gas engine. Can you even get parts for that engine?? I'd ask your local Case/IH dealer before jumping in too far.
