Brought this old John Deere 494A planter home today. Its in really good shape. Purchased it from the son of the man who originally purchased it. It also came with a lot of planter plates, a manual and box extenders. Should work well for planting corn. I payed $250 for it, he was just going to scrap it if I didn't want it, and I couldn't let that happen.

One thing is that the seller said that one of the outside planters would miss on occasion.

Does anyone know why this might be?

Thanks for reading!

Knockers in the bottom of the seed boxes need replaced to eliminate the skipping.Shouldn't cost very much.

Actually probably only a good cleaning and a little spring that operates them. Have been told that they were wore and bought new ones to replace and new parts were just as sloppy as the ones that were in there so they were not wore out like I was told. Just cleaning works wonders.

You are done collecting when you realize you should have built your barn twice as big. At least thats what happened to me.

Then you start negotiations with the "boss" on building a lean-to or another building.
