sandstone block wall sealing (??) ...

hey folks,
Have a wall along the road in front of the house just over a hundred years old. The surface of a few of the blocks is flaking/deteriorating. No pattern to it just some do and some don't. Is there maybe some kind of sealer that would stop it or slow it down?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave do not know if it is sold over in your parts but I have used a product called Thompston,s water seal in a small 2 gal hand sprayer. Have no idea what the pros would reccomend but that sure worked for some old sand stones at our other home.

I would mix 30% lacquer thinner with urethane gym floor finish. Paint or spray it on one or two coats, It would darken the color but soak in and stabilize the grains while keeping out moisture,
Water base urethane is also available and drys water proof. Mix it with 30% water to apply. In one or two years it will have faded on the surface but be effective on the inside. Jim
