Truck let me down again same place.

I am getting tired of walking home. My truck quit a hundred yards from where it did in the fall of 09.They changed the whole distributor saying it was a better fix than just changeing the roter and cap.Well now it seems the same so i changed the rotor and it still wont run. Got lots of spark on the plug now and puored a little gas in intake no hits. What do i do now its a 2003 chevy v6.

Timing?
Remember the old adage "A gas engine only requires 3 things to run Air, Gas and spark"

Some times computers get in the way.

Sounds to me like you need a computer hooked up to it. If you have spark and adding fuel does not make a difference, I would say you have a sensor problem. Crank, Cam or oil sensor plus a few others can kill an engine/create a non start mode. Does it give you any warning? What exactly is it doing?

The red light comes on and it cranks fast but don't hit.The oil preasure guage goes up while cranking. It stopped while running.I wonder if the key sensor is telling it not to run.

Spins fast, oil pr. comes up. Does this engine hace a timeing belt/chain?

My old Dodge did that to me. Distributor bushings were worn out and it would clean out the towers in the cap and crack the rotor with one pass. Of course I told the mechanic what I thought it was and I was to busy to fix it. He put a timing chain on it. Only time I got something free at a car shop.LOL

Got it to start up twice and run rough for 30 seconds then cut of.The timeing light does not blink steady like it should.Only 88k miles and good compression,no smoke and uses no oil.

Easy fix. Happened on my S-10. I quit driving past that spot...never happened again! Sorry Larry...somebody had to say it. : )

my ole chevy did that tome couple years ago broke down in the same spot 3 times turned out there was one bad ford settin in the driveway just around the corner.
RICK

Sounds like you need to take it somewhere you trust, and have 'em start checking sensors, such as crankshaft position sensor, and others, and the wiring harness connectors. Lots of times its the simple stuff that drives you simply mad.

I agree with the crankshaft position sensor. My cousins jeep would start and run rough for 5 mins and you had to hold the gas to keep it runnin for the 5 minutes then it was fine. i tinkered with it changing a few sensors and cleaning some things but it ended up the crank sensor. Try the starting it and holding the gas down about third throttle and see if it works its way out of it is my suggestion

Since the truck is newer than 1996, you can use an OBD-II diagnostic device...and SHOULD. No sense replacing good parts, just because you're not sure what's bad.

While a scanner would be great, just getting someone to pull codes should give you some idea where to start. Remember, this ain't your grandfather's 283 with a Rochester carb and a Delco distributor anymore. To diagnose electronics, it generally takes electronic equipment...so if you don't have that equipment, take it to someone who does. The days of fixing vehicles with a SWAG ["scientific wild-assed guess] are over.

Also,...has the fuel filter been changed? Chances could be that the problem is entirely unrelated to the upgrades you have already made?
