BKT tractor tires

Anyone bought or had any experience with this brand of tire? Local tire dealer says this tire is a European import, but should be fine to use on a 4020 John Deere with fluid filled tires. BKT's run $700 each, Harvest Kings (Made in China?) are $825 each, and Firestones are $1400 each. Not getting rich farming yet, so the cheaper the better, as long as they will last for a decent amount of time.

Their from India.

I have one on my BN, which doesn't get a ton of work but seems to get the job done.

I would (and probably will) by them again next time I need tires.

So what are you doing wrong CORN,BEANS,HOGS and CATTLE at record prices you should be making some good serious money.

I didn't say I wasn't making money. I said I'm not getting rich. And rich people don't get wealthy by spending their money without looking for the best value of their dollar. As far as what am I doing wrong? Nothing! It really isn't your business how my operation is doing, but yes, you are correct. I'm making a lot of good money right now in my farm operation. With that said, I still plan to spend my money in a wise way. Now, do you have any opinion on BKT tires like I was asking for? Or did you just feel the need to be critical today?

Ok, thanks for the opinion. Nice to know that you wouldn't be afraid to buy them when the time comes.

Like I said I've only used mine for light work (I did plow an acre though) and it's not by any means a high HP machine but the tire did what it was suppose to do.

I got the R-1 style.

A guy I know put two of them on his IH utility and I haven't heard him complain, I also know someone that put a set on a 4020 and again no complaints.

I'm sure there are better tires out there but for the money they seem to work well.

Are you looking for best value or cheap? I don't think BKT is a bad tire. I see several around the area that seem to hold up decent, at least for a while until they rot. They don't seem to have particularly hard rubber so I suspect that if you were on asphalt they would scuff off pretty quick in spite of their deep lugs. Even in general use I doubt they'd last nearly as long as a Firestone... Wether or not the Firestone would wear more than twice as long... is probably debatable.
Personally I would probably go with Firestone on something I was working hard and BKT on something that spent more time sitting.

Thanks for the opinion. Only thing the tractor is used for is mowing hay. I use it on the discbine June-September, sits inside a shed the other months out of the year. But the tires that are on it have about 10% tread and are weather checked too. I figure rather than wait until I blow one in the field and have a week of down time, I might as well buy now when I don't need the tractor anyway.

MNut, The Akuret tires mentioned are good tires, father in law has them , i think he got the at Timmer Implemnet, not real sure I can ask, I now it was a dealer some where off 169 some where close to you. Very nice tire. There is a whole sale tire place in Clearwater, sells Harvest king cgeap. Only thing I didnt like about the harvest king was the space between the lugs. Too far between for my liking.

Thanks Dave, I searched the internet and liked what I saw. Found one dealer in Swanville and one in Isanti, but I'll check with Timmers too. Thanks for the information.

bought a set of them for my garden tractor, they seem twice as thick as the factory originals. from india I think. bill m.

Another reason why never believe a Salesman.

This is an Indian tyre and RECEIVED acceptance in Europe { He grabbed on that] and the USA.
I just purchased 2off 16.9X28 and cost me $750 each.
Aust. Dollar $1.05 to US$.] You are getting them cheap. Have not rolled them yet because I am replacing the brake linings.

Google "BKT tyres". read Company profile.

Yes, but FUEL, MACHINERY, PARTS, TIRES, SEED, FEED, and FERTILIZER are also at record prices.

Sure, more money is coming in, but more money is also going OUT.

Sounds like you got a great price.

This week I was quoted $450 to $550 for just the tire in the 16.9 x 28 size R-1 (farm tread) and I pick them up across the street from my office.

From what I heard from two dealers they are good tires. Read a little on the company and they seem to be growing very fast.
