i've got an old 2 cyl. wisc. i'm trying to adapt. i can get it started on starting fluid but as soon as it gets rev's up it dies. i've put on a new fuel pump, cleaned the dirty carb several times but it still dies. any ideas?

Where are you? I have a good used one that I took off a running engine that I would sell. E-mail is open.
Good Luck and God Bless

NAPA carburater kit # 2-1565 fits virtually all
Wisconsin 2 cyls with Zenith carbs, as well as
4 cyls, models, VF4,VH4,VH4D,.
If you repair your carb, be sure to soak it well
in carb cleaner. I've used denatured alcohol, or
MEK with good results to cut the varnish. Use a
fine wire to make sure all of the passages are open. A gas welding tip cleaner, that has about
20 sizes of fine wires works well.
Finally...the valves on those engines are prone
to sticking, if they sit for lond periods. If
my engines are going to sit I pull the plugs
and squirt some oil along the valve stems.
A quick check is to pull the head. NAPA head
gasket kit # 7623S is "about $15. a complete gasket set is also available. I always open the
base and usually find them full of sludge and
crud from use of non detergent oil, It's worth
the time to clean them out. I use SAE 10-30 oil
in everything with no problems.
