O/T: '99 Grand Cherokee distributorless ignition ?

I will be setting a reman engine into my "99 Grand Cherokee this weekend. I"m trying to find out how to set the cam sensor(which goes in place of the distributor). I know to bring #1 cylinder to TDC, and there is an alignment hole in the sensor. But what size pin/drill do I need? Also, which direction do I orient the electrical connector? Seems like rotating the sensor would adjust timing, same as it would with a distributor?

Please correct me if I"m wrong. Sure wish my manual was in, but local auto parts did not have a manual in stock. I"m hoping to get this running before it comes in.

Thank you,

Anthony

Ignition timing referenced from the crankshaft sensor that is bolted to the bell housing ( usually on the drivers side )

The cam sensor just tells the computer if cyl 1 is on the compression or exhaust stroke. There is a pretty big window of error here ( 5* would be a safe guess ) and the engine will usually run regardless of position. The computer needs to know what cylinder is firing when sequential injection is used. Sequential is only a benefit at idle and low speeds and some brands use batch injection. Sometimes the cylinder information is used to trim fuel / spark timing per cylinder .

Connector position matters as that would change cyl 1 reference.
