3 pt quick hitch

Hey guys,

We just bought a Cat 2quick hitch from TSC thinking that would make it easier to un/hook to our 3 pt hitch mounted Vicon disc mower. Turns out, the quick hitch is about 5" wider than the A frame on the mower.

I am not inclined to give up on the quick hitch just yet, although I know there are those who hold them in low regard.

Any ideas as to the best way to adapt the mower's hitch? Create a whole new A frame and weld that to the current frame?

Thanks,
Jake

Find yourself a Quick Hitch that will adapt both ways from CAT-I to CAT-II. That way you can hook a CAT-II tractor to a CAT-I implement, or vise versa, or same to same.

Sounds like your mower is Cat 1.
If your tractor (< 60 HP or so?) can mount a Cat 1 quick-hitch, can you return the Cat 2 for a Cat 1?

I used these adapters from Northern when I fabricated the 3 pt on my SMTA. They work great for me. I think they are more versitile than the A frame variety.

Not the best picture of the adapters, but you get the idea.

How big is your tractor? Does the hitch match anything else you have?My stuff all has double pins (bolts?) CatI facing in and catII facing out. I can use my catI HF quick hitch on everything (have to use a chain for a toplink on a couple). Been watching ebay for a set like in ben's picture and a hydraulic top link cheap so I can be lazier.

I haven't seen a quick hitch that adjust from 1 to 2 or back. I have had both cat 1 & 2 quick hitches. I think the cat 1 is 26 in across and the 2 is 32 in across.

They are basiclly 3 peices. (1) top cross tube for top link with bolt flanges. (2)the two vertical legs with the couplers. They have a offset in them and are RH and LH. Unbolt them from the R to L side and the spacing converts from CatI to Cat II. There is also a saddle strap that changes sides to acomidate the tractor hitch arms in the diff configurations. The pins that fasten it to the tractor are sholdered with 1-1/8" on one end and 7/8" on other.

Like Spook, I haven't seen one of those, either.
